About the role

The Senior React Native Developer designs, develops, and ships the mobile applications that power the client’s digital audio experiences. Audio is the product: the apps stream live and on-demand content, play in the background, and integrate with CarPlay, Android Auto, and Chromecast. You will work closely with cross-functional teams — product managers, designers, and backend engineers — to deliver high-quality applications that meet business and user needs.

The engineering team works within an AI-augmented development workflow — AI agents assist with code generation, ticket enrichment, code review, and testing. Candidates must be comfortable working alongside AI tooling daily, while exercising the technical judgment to catch when it’s wrong.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy React Native applications that provide a seamless user experience.
• Build and maintain audio streaming and playback features, including background audio and platform integrations such as CarPlay, Android Auto, and Chromecast.
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate GraphQL and REST APIs and ensure efficient data flow and performance.
• Write and maintain automated tests — unit, component, and end-to-end — as part of everyday development, not as an afterthought.
• Conduct code reviews, mentor junior developers, and contribute to the growth of technical knowledge within the team.
• Maintain and improve existing mobile applications, ensuring they align with evolving business and technology requirements.
• Engage in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, contributing to sprint planning, estimation, and retrospectives.
• Drive the adoption of new technologies and methodologies within the mobile development team.
• Use AI coding agents (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar) daily to accelerate scaffolding, refactoring, test generation, and code review — while owning the correctness of everything you merge: independently verify logic, security, and performance, and catch hallucinated APIs, incorrect native module usage, and unsafe patterns before they reach review or production. AI output is a first draft from a junior collaborator, not a source of truth.
• Contribute to and refine the team’s internal AI-agent workflows, prompts, and guardrails as the tooling matures.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required:

• 5+ years of professional mobile development, including 3+ years building React Native applications in production.
• At least one app shipped to and maintained in both the Apple App Store and Google Play.
• Strong experience with React Native and Expo
• Strong knowledge of TypeScript and JavaScript.
• Experience writing native modules in Swift and Kotlin.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience using AI coding agents in a professional development workflow (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, or equivalent), with strong critical-evaluation skills: able to spot hallucinated APIs, incorrect logic, subtle bugs, and security gaps — and to articulate why a suggestion is right or wrong, not just accept or reject it on instinct. AI is a copilot, not an autopilot: you retain full ownership of architecture, design decisions, and code quality.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Highly Regarded:

• Audio or video streaming and background playback — ExoPlayer/Media3, AVPlayer.
• GraphQL clients (Apollo) and client-side cache management.
• Zustand state management and Firebase services.
• Monorepo tooling (Nx, pnpm workspaces) and CI/CD pipelines.
• CarPlay, Android Auto, or Chromecast integration experience.
• Automated testing in React Native – Jest and React Native Testing Library; E2E tooling such as Maestro or Detox is a plus.
