About:

The Website Designer will work with the client’s team to design wireframes / mock-ups, build websites in WordPress (Elementor) and review website builds. The Website Designer will regularly meet with the project manager to determine the requirements and parameters of projects and will recommend enhancements, streamline processes, and strive to improve the user experience where possible. Additional key elements include gathering necessary information and data through research, estimating project lead times and time allowances/ project breakdowns, working with the client’s team to troubleshoot, and providing timely support to existing clients.

The Website Designer will assist the project manager with project scoping & admin (pre and post-quoting) as well as guide clients on best practices. They will work to a brief (created by the project manager based on client needs), develop original, creative, custom ideas and concepts, and identify and recommend appropriate media, resources and technologies to meet the client’s objectives. Projects may have a local, national or international focus.

The work demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry technologies (including the Adobe Suite, WordPress and Figma), and a professional approach to time, costs, and deadlines. An ability to manage and plan multiple projects is essential. The Website Designer will often be responsible for the roll-out of multiple websites concurrently.

Key Responsibilities:

• Meeting with account managers to discuss the business objectives and requirements of projects
• Interpreting the client’s business needs and developing concepts and approaches to suit their purpose
• Estimating the time required to complete the work for quoting
• Assisting project manager with project scoping & admin (pre and post-quoting)
• Assist project manager with guiding clients on best practices
• Assist in developing design briefs by gathering information and data through research
• Presenting finalised ideas and concepts to account managers and/or clients
• Working with a wide range of media
• Collaborating with our content writer to structure and design websites
• Collaborating closely with developers (where necessary) to build websites
• Collaborating with our developer for hosting, domains, go-live, etc
• Proofreading to produce accurate and high-quality work
• Keeping abreast of emerging technologies in new media and design programs
• Design custom, original and creative websites that meet the client’s needs
• Creating wireframe/mock-up designs and concepts (Adobe XD or Figma)
• Website builds in Elementor/ WordPress that match the wireframe and are designed to be responsive and optimised for mobile
• Reviewing and testing websites before they go live
• Basic SEO knowledge (population of metatitles, descriptions and opengraph images) is desirable
• Frequently communicate with the team regarding handovers, reviews, and client questions
• Provide notes tailored to each build for us to film client training videos
• Excellent oral, written and visual communication skills
• Has experience working on and managing multiple projects, clients and priorities at one time

while planning for future projects

• Track time on projects and keep track of change allowances
• Experience working with clients/client interaction (for future growth
• Attend meetings and internal team catchups as required
• Establish and maintain a cooperative and mutually supportive working relationship with all client’s employees
• Adhere to all internal policies and procedures, including OH&S and compliance
• Other duties as reasonably directed by management

Qualifications:

• Tertiary qualifications in Website Design or equivalent
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role is essential
• Experience working with a range of design applications
• Proven work history in a team environment
• Excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills
• Demonstrated creativity and initiative with regard to design work and problem solving
• Ability to organise and manage multiple tasks
• Ability to work remotely and self-manage effectively
• Ability to work autonomously or as part of a team, as required
• Results-oriented approach to work and proven experience of working to deadlines
• Ability to build and maintain relationships in a team environment
• Flexible approach to work duties
