About the role

The Technical Business Analyst (Payments) will play a key role in supporting the operation, development and enhancement of payment platforms. This role is primarily internal-facing and involves gathering and documenting technical business requirements, working closely with cross-functional teams (developers, product managers, and operations) to build, test, and implement payment solutions. Using their understanding of the payment platforms, the Technical Business Analyst will also support the operations of the payment gateway by investigating and resolving transaction issues and ensuring smooth, compliant payment processes. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of banking or payment processing systems and the ability to translate business needs into technical specifications.

This role would suit a candidate with a strong background in Technical Business Analysis/Integration Analysis with a domain background in payments, banking or finance or similar fields

Key Responsibilities

  • Elicit, gather, and document technical business requirements, user stories, and use cases related to Payments functionality.
  • Work with development teams to ensure that technical solutions meet the business requirements and user stories.
  • Collaborate with the product and operations teams to define and refine business processes related to payments.
  • Investigate transaction failures and discrepancies, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders for resolution.
  • Provide expert support for payment-related inquiries and issues, ensuring they are resolved promptly and accurately.
  • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the payment operations and gateway functionality.
  • Collaborate with technical and delivery teams to design, configure, and implement payment gateway functionalities.
  • Support the end-to-end development lifecycle by validating solutions, assisting in configuration, and ensuring requirements are met.
  • Collaborate with QA teams to define and execute test plans for new payment features or enhancements.
  • Ensure thorough testing of payment functionality and provide troubleshooting support
  • Propose and implement improvements and automation to streamline payment operations and support scalability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or related fields.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Business Analyst in payments, banking, or financial technology.
  • Strong understanding of payment gateway operations, for example card schemes, bank payment rails (e.g., BECS, ACH, ACSS).
  • Demonstrated experience in gathering and translating business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Curiosity and excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to facilitate collaboration between technical and business teams

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with payment processing platforms and integration of payment solutions.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and working with technical teams.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards related to payments (e.g., PCI DSS).
  • Experience in end-to-end payment transaction flows, including settlement, clearing, and reconciliation.

Work Details

  • Shift: Monday to Friday: 6AM – 3PM PHT depending on business needs
  • Location: Makati | *Work from Home Until Further Notice
  • Status: Full Time/Contract
